Lord of Misrule

In a remote English village, a centuries-old mythological festival is celebrated noisily, with masquerade costumes, bonfires and songs - an ancient solstice ritual during which an ancient spirit is summoned and life is sacrificed as a gift to evil deities. This macabre tradition, steeped in legend and bloody symbolism, helps to sanctify the earth and ensure its fertility.
